Who Was Book Series

September 10, 2015
Amy Phelps , MOV Parent

There have been two recent releases in the "Who Was" series, the popular biography series for young readers. The 100th book released is "Who Was Steve Irwin" by Dina Anastasio (Penguin, $5.99, ages 8 to 12). The book focuses on Irwin's life, from his childhood in Melbourne, Australia, raised on the wildlife park his parents owned, to meeting his wife, Terri, to the "Crocodile Hunter" television series and his untimely death while filming a documentary. My 10-year-old enjoys this series and really enjoyed reading about Irwin. She said she liked the illustrations and liked learning crocodile facts too. She also enjoyed reading about his daughter.

Also out now is "Who Is...The Story of My Life" by Paula Manzanero (Penguin, $8.99, ages 8 to 12) which is a journal that gives kids a chance to write their own autobiographies. The 10-year-old is enjoying getting a chance to write her own book.
